these were my initial ideas for the sect costume:
i wanted to create a long flowing robe....
possibly with a hood....
But then i started to look at modernising the sect gown as i thought my other ideas were to medieval and too much of a typical sect gown.
My final idea of the Sect costume:
A shortened yet free flowing gown, which i have chosen to give a hood as it adds an air of mystery and concealment to the costume.
I also chose to crop the sleeves to give it a modern edgy appeal an so that maisies body art could be seen
Concealing the robe within normal clothing
this shows hos the robe will be concealed within a normal denim jacket and hoodie, so that the jacket/robe can be secretly worn all the time and only revered to reveal the sects robe when reeded for sect business, meaning the sect can remain hidden, but easily accessible.
this images shows how the robe can be converted/reversed an easily changed into a normal looking outfit.
with the addition of personal items and a personal twist such as badges, buttons, ribbons etc. the robe can be truly disguised into everyday society and blend in with normal everyday clothes.

I also decided to add the idea that all the members of the sect would wear a similar type shoe/trainer, it didn't particularly matter what colour the shoe/trainer was, but it would further reiterate the idea of belonging to a sect and having a uniform.
I chose for the photographs and for the project in general that the sect would all be wearing some form of converse trainer. converses are often warn by many people all the item in everyday life and therefore it would not look unusual for them to be warning them with the everyday normal side of the robe as well as establishing the idea of a uniform.
adding the ideas and intrigue of a riddle or code into the robe through colour coding the buttons on the everyday/normal side of the jacket.
I have colour coded the buttons on the front of the normal side of the robe...
the buttons are coloured: [Blue, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Blue, Red, Blue]
