Review of my project 

Overall i would say that i have found this project to be very successful  i was able to create everything i wanted to create and was required to make for the project. e.g. the costume gowns that other students have used in their work.

Main/reversible robe

i was really pleased with the way the main/reversible robe turned out in the end it has a very concise look about it, quite a modern shape but with a medieval flare. I incorporated an edge of modern styling into both the ceremonial side of the robe as well as the everyday side of the robe. on the ceremonial side of the robe i gave a modern twist buy using braiding down the arm that imitates the stripes along the arm of a modern addidas hoodie. whereas on the everyday side of the robe the overall appeal of this side is the modern styling of it, from the simple denim jacket and hoodie appearance to the addition of converse trainer to tie the outfit together. 

Costume robe

I was really pleased with the way the costume robe/poncho turned out an how effective it looked when it was worn and photographed. i made all four of the costume robes to the exact same pattern, a pattern that allowed many people of different sizes and shapes to wear the robe, as well as being easy to remove them for costume changes/photographing etc.

Posts

my posts turned out really well and they provide a good layout for my work in the museum space. the way i created the posts was very cost effective and time effective. i was able to make four posts for the price it would have cost me to buy one post and overall i believe that the finish off my presentation of my work perfectly.

my time management for this project was really good and i was able to stick to the timetable i had made myself, i was able to create the main/reversible robe, four costume robes, and four display post well in advance of the hand in date, just in-case i found any last minuet problems.

I have presented my 'Niksurites' robe on a dress Mannequin with gold posts surrounding it to cordon off the area....
I have chosen to surround my robe with gold posts so that people can look at the robe but can not necessarily touch the robe...

But if they choose to be sneaky and lean over and tough the robe its up to them.

i added photo's to the wall behind the display of my robe to show the change/reversing of the robe from a normal jacket to the sect robe.

This is my final layout in my designated space in the museum 

I decided to display my work in this was in the museum, because it best displays my robe from multiple angles, i decided to surround it with posts (that maybe considered medieval) to suggest  a look but don't touch approach to my section of the museum.
I have also added photos to the wall behind my robe. one set of photos is to to explain how the robe is reversible and how it changes from the ceremonial robe to the everyday jacket and the other set of photos is of the robe being worn.

Making my posts

Making My Posts 

In order to display my gown i have made my own gold posts to go around my outfit 

i was going to buy four of there bass posts to go around the outside of my exhibit, but they would have cost £46 each post, where i was able to make my own posts for £36 for the set.

In order to make my posts i used:

•  2 sheets of MDF 
• plastic tube
• wood
• wooden deck balls
• primer
• gold spray paint
• curtain hooks 

How I did  I make my posts?

first I marked and cut out the bases for my posts to stand on. (1)

then  I cut the posts/plastic tube to the correct height for my design and put blocks of wood inside the tube s that i had something to screw the base and the ball into.

i then sanded the discs i had cut for the base of my posts. (2)

i them went on to screw all of it together, screwing the deck ball onto the top and the bases to the opposite end. (3) 

t then panted the completed posts with 2 coats of primer.

and the sprayed them with gold spray paint.

Niksur Logo's

This is the Main Niksur Logo for the Main Reversible Niksur robe 

Main logo- made out of fabric, blue, light blue, red & red cording

"Although i like this recreation of the Niksur logo, it was hard to maintain the shape of the circle, as the fabric wanted to return to its original square shape instead of a circle, therefore the crispness of the shape was compromised."

"The creation of the logo in this way was also repetitively time consuming, therefore i will look at finding a quicker and more manageable way to create more logos for the costume robes."

-          Think of other ways to create the logo 

• simplify the design
• think about painting the design onto material, or using fabric pens
• make the logo out of felt

How I Created the Felt Logo 
I used the computer drawn version to draw up the templates onto thick cartridge paper, I then went onto draw design onto felt and then cutting it out and stick together.

 "When creating the logo out of felt i still encountered a few problem, due to the delicate nature of the felt. for example, initially i cut the red piece out as i thin strip of felt but it frayed and broke, so i decided to cut the red section as a whole circle and make the light blue section the one that is cut to great the shaping within the logo."

"Overall by making the Costume Logos out of felt, is faster and easier, whilst still being a good quality representation of the original logo design " 

Embellishment on Robe

Embellishment on my final robe 

I have decided to add some embellishment to the sleeve of my final robe - I am going to add embellishment to imitate the stripes/patterns you of the see on the sleeves of gang huddies. e.g. the addidas stripes

i chose this embellishment as it incorporated the idea of gang stripes on a hoodie as well as linking in with the 'N' of the 'Niksurites'  

Research

Research:

As part of my research i look at pre-existing gown designs that could be adapt to make the robe for the sect.
first i started by looking at graduation gowns and the components that make up a graduation gown, its shape, form, dimensions, hoe it hangs on the body, and its overall look and appearance.

i then went on to think about the ideas behind what defines a gang, in the clothes that they wear.... 

for example some gangs all wear similar jackets/huddies with on e component in common, example shown in the image below: all the members of the gang are wearing a huddies with some form of line detaining down the sleeves of the huddie.

i also thought about adding accessories into the gown that all members of the sect could be wearing. 

for example, things such as caps or trainers (converse) that can be bought and worn in addition to the robe, but still symbolises that you are a member of some form of gang, sect or style/trend.
